- Assess the iron status in all patients before and throughout therapy with Jesduvroq 1 mg, 2 mg, 4 mg, 6 mg, and 8 mg. Supplemental iron therapy should be administered when serum ferritin is less than 100 mcg/mL or when serum transferrin saturation is less than 20 percent.
- Jesduvroq tablets may increase the risk of arterial and venous thrombotic events that may be fatal, including stroke, venous thromboembolism, myocardial infarction, and vascular access thrombosis. Patients should seek prompt medical help if they develop these signs or symptoms. Evaluate and manage immediately if these occur.
- Patients with a known and pre-existing history of heart failure are at higher risk of hospitalization for heart failure with Daprodustat. Consider the patient’s history of heart failure when deciding whether to prescribe this medication. Patients should promptly report any worsening to their healthcare professional.
- Daprodustat is contraindicated in those with uncontrolled hypertension. Cases of hypertensive crisis including seizures and hypertensive encephalopathy may occur in patients with this drug. Periodically monitor blood pressure and adjust or start anti-hypertensive therapy as required.
- Gastric or esophageal erosions may occur in Jesduvroq and rhEPO-treated patients. Consider this risk mainly in those with a known history of gastrointestinal erosion, peptic ulcer disease, use of concomitant drugs that increase the probability of gastrointestinal erosion, and current alcohol drinkers and tobacco smokers.
- Jesduvroq therapy may be responsible for causing fetal harm. Breastfeeding is not recommended until 7 days after the last dose. This treatment is not recommended in those with severe hepatic impairment.
