Evrenzo is an anti-anemia medication used for the treatment of adults with symptomatic anaemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). 

Recommended Dosage: 

Three times weekly dosing schedule: Evrenzo tablets supplied in a blister pack containing medicine for 4 weeks (12 tablets), split into four rows. Each row typically contains 1 week of medication (three tablets). Make sure to take tablets from the same row each week. The dose may range from 20 mg three (3) times weekly up to a maximum of 400 mg three (3) times weekly.

Different dosing frequencies: In exceptional cases (on behalf of haemoglobin levels), the doctor may decide to scale down the dose of Evrenzo to 20 mg two (2) times or one (1) time weekly. In this scenario, the doctor will elaborate on which days of the week you need to take your dose.

More than one tablet required to make up a dose: In maximum cases patients will have one blister package per month. In case the dose requires excess than one blister package, patients will need to take a tablet from each blister per dosing day. Patients will be monitored for haemoglobin levels. Treatment with Evrenzo 20 mg/50 mg/70 mg/100 mg, or 150 mg may temporarily be stopped if the haemoglobin level becomes excessively high. Wait for the doctor’s consent prior to restarting the treatment. 

• Use Evrenzo with caution in those with a known history of seizures (convulsions or fits), epilepsy or medical complications related to a predisposition to seizure activity such as central nervous system (CNS) infections.
• Serious infections such as pneumonia and urinary tract infections (UTIs) may occur. Patients with potential signs and symptoms of infections should be quickly evaluated and treated according to the standard of care.
• Events of secondary hypothyroidism may occur with the use of Evrenzo 150 mg/ 100 mg/ 70 mg/ 50 mg, or 20 mg. These reactions may be reversible upon Evrenzo withdrawal. Monitor thyroid function as clinically required.
• Caution is required when Evrenzo tablets are used in those with moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class B). The use of this medication is not recommended in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class C).
• Evrenzo is contraindicated during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Do not use it during the 1st and 2nd trimester of pregnancy. In case pregnancy is suspected while on Evrenzo 70 mg or any other strength, discontinue treatment and switch to alternative therapeutics, if appropriate.
• It is not known whether Evrenzo/metabolites are excreted in human milk. According to available animal findings, the excretion of roxadustat in milk is possible. Therefore, avoid using this drug during breastfeeding.
• This medicinal product has minimal influence on the potential to drive and use of machines. Seizures may occur during therapy with Evrenzo. Therefore, exercise caution when driving or using any machines.
