Fasenra is an interleukin-5 receptor alpha-directed cytolytic monoclonal antibody (IgG1, kappa) used for the add-on maintenance treatment of patients with severe asthma aged 12 years and older, and with an eosinophilic phenotype.

These reactions may generally occur within hours of use, but in some instances have a delayed onset (i.e., days). In case of hypersensitivity reaction, treatment should be discontinued. 
• Do not use Benralizumab to treat acute asthma symptoms or acute exacerbations. Do not use this medicine to treat acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus. Patients should seek medical advice if their asthma remains uncontrolled or worsens after the start of therapy with Benralizumab.
• Avoid interrupting systemic or inhaled corticosteroids abruptly upon initiation of fasenra uses. Decrements in corticosteroid dose, if apt, must be gradual and performed under the direct supervision of a doctor. Decrement in the dose of corticosteroid may be linked with systemic withdrawal symptoms or unmask conditions previously suppressed by systemic corticosteroid therapy.
• Eosinophils sometimes called eosinophiles or, less commonly, acidophils may be involved in the immunological response to a few helminth infections. Those with known helminth infections were excluded from participation in clinical trials. It is not specified if benralizumab injection will influence a patient’s response against helminth infections.
